OS Nats, on Film!

March 2, 2010

Developed the roll of film that I took at the OS Nats today. Can’t get much more oldschool than 35mm, yo!

OS Nats 2010 film negs (by decypher the code)

excuse the scanned quality...

Unfortunately I need a proper scanner – the hp multifunction I got for Xmas doesn’t do a very good job at scanning negatives, even after converting to black and white and a bit of touching up in the GIMP. But it’s nice to know my 1981 Olympus Trip 35 camera is still going strong.

In the meantime the most elegant solution will be to convert the negs straight to digital, or at the very least have some prints made.

Hey Alistair, I think these guys stole your thunder!

1986 Toyota Century VG40, start price $12,000

I’m finding more and more ’80s Japanese sportscars and other rarities on tardme every week. The fact that most of them are listed at ridiculous prices has its advantages and disadvantages (as I’ve complained about bitterly in the past); though I suppose if prices stay artificially inflated there’s a chance I might get a tiny bit more than the “asking price” I had envisioned for the KDR30 if I ever decide to pass it on. We shall see.

But it’s amusing to see the sort of price disparities that exist between the auctions in Japan and the yards over here (even after taking shipping and compliance into effect) – which might be the subject of another blog entry one day if I ever get my USS login back.

Anyway, back to liberty8… this must be the yard mentioned in an earlier blog post, because in addition to the aforementioned Century… look – there’s that Soarer, that AW11 MR2, and that Fairlady 200ZR!
