Events

The Skyline contingent, they’re a popular car globally (now) though this is really only a recent thing when you compare it to the length of time that the Skyline range has been about (over 50 years, by the way.)  In Japan however, the Skyline has been popular for as long as it’s been produced though a lot of that is to do with it’s foray into racing and subsequent successes with the S54 and C10 series of cars.   This entry is dedicated to the Skyline range on show at the Nagoya event.

Army Green C110 Yonmeri

With C10 Racing Lamp Covers & Rear Spoiler, C130 indicators and C110 GT-R flares this Yonmeri has a clearly recognisable presence.  I recognised it from another picture I have kicking about somewhere of it on a sodden race track, battling a yellow Celica.  I’ll try dig that up.

C210 and C10

The appearance of the C10 going part way to replicating that of the first Nissan Skyline GT-R race car with the C210 to it’s right (your left) doing it’s best to join in on the race look with front lip, over-fenders and wide SSR MkII’s to fill them.  The C210 being another (beside the C110) that missed out on dedicated track time.

What car meet in Japan would be complete with the crew that carries on the bosozoku style?  None.  None is the answer to that question.  As such, here’s a smattering of those mentioned that attended the Nagoya show.  Enjoy their aesthetically offensive, racing car inspired awesomeness.

Thanks go out to Ewan (www.hayatonka.com) for many, many things.  This time though it’s for taking a good whack of photos whilst he’s out and about at various events or otherwise.  In this instance he took the recently acquired KHR31 GTS-X that he attained on behalf of Shaun (Mettler) after this atrocity to the Nagoya Classic Car Show, the results as you will see momentarily are beyond awesome.  As you’ll see from the small share of photos this time around, the focus is on the larger Japanese sedans that were present.

FLAWLESS trackday, Taupo '10 (by decypher the code)

get that pesky R32!

another successful FLAWLESS trackday has been and gone – many churs to Jarred and the team for the organizational prowess (and for letting me take the AW11 around the track for one brief stint). Taupo put on some interesting weather this year with fog in the morning and rain in the afternoon… a marked contrast from 2009 when it was sunny all day.

also chur to Markku/Truenotch for this sweet photo of my car:

You're required to manoeuvre straight down this trench...

With over 300 shots to sort through on my camera I should hopefully have the bulk of them up on my flickr tonight – the album is here – but for now, content yourselves with some selected shots after the jump…
