This kid knows where it's at.

Oh you crazy gangs!

So, not long after Adrian and I had been to retrieve his new Race-car that cost him a 24-pack, my girlfriend was talking with one of her friends about it and evidently, her friends boyfriend had one that was now sitting around doing nothing.  Interesting!  Although for the most part people seem to confuse the 1st and 2nd Generation of Civic, so I didn’t get any hopes up until I could check it out in person.  We were given the details of where is was sitting (out on a farm, no less.  This is Southland after-all) and did an afternoon mission to check it out in person.  What I had been told was that it was Dead Registration, Cooked Motor & Slushbox.  So.  Off we went, following the crudely drawn map to the car’s location.  After following the appropriate directions I was greeted with this site;

Gate Support, JDM Civic, y0!

So, first sight showed that it was indeed a 1st Generation car and not only that but it had fender mirrors!  They would simply have to be utilised.  So it came time for a closer look, (more…)

I fucking love this car and I just had to share on here what the GS boys shared on their own blog;

Bad to the mo’fukkin Ass.

See more about the car on their site, do it.

80′s MMC Koop

February 4, 2010

I had a visit the other day from fellow oldschool.co.nz member fuel, known for his knowledge and wisdom of the Mitsubishi brand his trip had been the result of a recent purchase of another Mitsubishi for his collection.  Seeing as the purchase took him so far down the country he figured the extra 2 hours drive to pop in wouldn’t be all that much in the grand scheme of things, that being said, he received food and shelter and then departed the next day for Dunedin, though before he left we did a little tiny tour of the typical Invercargill things to take photos with the Mitsi beside, like so…

The Invercargill Water Tower

The Feldwick Gates @ Queens Park

The Southland Museum/Pyramid

…and of course how could there not be one with the occupants of my own driveway;

Mitsubishi, Datsun, Daihatsu

From Ukraine with Kenmeri?

January 12, 2010

Perhaps you have to be a Skyline nerd to understand that pathetic attempt at humour.

Whilst trawling the forums of Japanese Nostalgic Car last-night, I wandered across a fairly rare sight, especially outside of Japan.  The sight was one of a PC110, but not what you would expect of one.  This was no Export market Datsun 180K, oh no, it’s a genuine Japanese Nissan Skyline 1800GL and as the title of this entry suggests, it’s in the Ukraine, curious!

Nissan Skyline 1800GL

The basic story behind it, is that it was exported from Japan (via Boat) in 1991 into the Ukraine.  Apparently sailors of the USSR did this in relative frequency,  so it is a real Skyline with motivation from the Prince designed G18 Engine.   Bought for the princely sum of 500USD  (roughly $680NZD)!  Not too bad.  The amount of rot that encompasses it reminds me of my own C110.
