A pity Starions never really held their value here in NZ – which makes importing one not really that viable unless it was for a collection of some sort, but it’d be nice to own something this tidy/original.
This here’s a 1983 GSR-III model (with intercooler, so the 8-valve G63B gets a power bump to 175PS), tan cloth interior and smooth gunmetal paint. Starting bid is currently 200,000 yen (NZ$3100) which makes it something of a bargain, although it’s hard to tell whether start=reserve. No word on whether it comes with the factory optional blue smoke, but with only 59800km on the clock one would hope not!
now if only the interior was maroon, it’d be the perfect GSR-III…

the Starions to hold their value here are the NZ-new EX or truly rare ESiR models, or the very small handful of widebodies here in NZ (either Jap or UK import). Last widebody I saw for sale was for $16k in 2004 and I haven’t seen a complete one sell since, other than a rusty one in parts which was dereg which even that sold for over $3500. Most of the Starions on our roads are the lesser spec jap import GSR, GSR-II or GSR-IIIs so quite understandably they aren’t worth a great deal. It’s like comparing a four door L20 powered R30 to a DR30 coupe and saying Skylines aren’t worth much cause the four doors sell for peanuts.
Skylines aren’t worth much. DR30 Sedans can be had for a pittance!

Unfortunately when it comes to putting money where mouths are, sadly, hardly anyone wants to jump. At this rate Mark has a fairly good chance of scoring that DR30 – there have been bigger offers than his, but no actual fronting up.
And if I had a say in who the car goes to, I’d prefer it went to him because he’d probably look after it.
