With this weekend just been being the oldschool Palmy Swap “Meat” weekend (an oldschool.co.nz forum event using the Palmerston North Swap Meet as a loose excuse to get drunk and rowdy), I thought seeing as I didn’t make it this time I’d show some photos of the cars from last year, when I did attend. Hopefully Alex will put up a post of this years event either later tonight or later this week. If he doesn’t do such things I may well stab him in the eye with a pushrod.
I used to have most these photos as an entry on the oldschool.co.nz blog which sadly died a horrible death after some hosting issues. SO, if you’ve seen them before, that will be where, well… either that or oldschool itself. AAAANNYHOOO, on with the show;
Arrival in Wellington from Invercargill, I was picked up from the AirPort by Pies and Seedy Al. Wellington was host to some fine automobile spotting, all things considered. Not all managed to be snapped and some were just horrific, but that’s what you get for taking photos out of a moving car and a lack of preparation.
Spied on the motorway on the way out to see this next beast, which was at the time owned my Pies, it has since found a new owner.
Then on the way back from the lockup, this was encountered; Thankfully the picture looks sweet.
Of course this was not the end of the spotting, there were many more retro and classic vehicles lining the streets of various parts of Wellington and the Hutt.
Post Wellington, it was on to Palmerston North via train. Richie picked me up from the station and we grabbed something to eat before essentially retiring for the evening and taking up matters of an automotive nature the next day (or two).
I actually stayed with Paul in Wellington, though due to work and me coming up at weird times/during the working week, I wasn’t able to travel up with him from Wellington to Palmerston North in his Midget. I seem to recall there being something to do with transportation of a TV and as such room in the Midget was at a premium, as you can imagine!
Also in Palmerston North was this epic collection of predominantly Fiats, see if you can pick them all;
After having a good nose about through that magical collection, it was back out onto the streets, to be met with the likes of this…
Then the subsequent day, this what looks to be tidy KDR30 was spied on the way to the Swap Meet itself.
…and that’s it for the moment. I’ll make a post with the pictures from the Swap Meet itself later on in the week. Until then you can check out these pictures in a higher resolution on the RC flickr, here
Enjoy!

Oh typical, the stupid fence blocks the rear plate on that KDR
Yeah, sucks aye. That was my H2 at full optical zoom. It was a bit of a distance away so that was the only available angle.
