YAJ – Yahoo! Auctions Japan

Following on from the OS Giken FJ24 post from the other day I did a bit more snooping around on YAJ to see if there was any other FJ20-related stuff worth buying.

And man, was there ever!

These items cost money.

OS GIKEN Kit Mania! FJ24

must say, I’m pretty damn tempted. But further inspection reveals it doesn’t come with any 2.4l-specific conrods, and one set of piston rings is missing. Though I suppose I could use regular FJ20 ‘rods – the seller claims his standard rods worked fine…

Might not be the best value for ¥298,000 (NZ$4665), although the crank itself is probably worth moonbeams.

whadaya think?

Lately whilst browsing for DR30s on the internerds I’ve noticed a rather startling trend: the majority of ‘em have either Longchamp XR4s, Formula Mesh, Impul G5s, or Watanabe RS-8 wheels fitted. And to be honest I’m guilty of perpetuating this trend myself, as I happen to have a set of meshies on the coupe and some RS-8s lying around which are to one day find themselves on squid…

on a whim I stuck my Work Ewing-IIIs on Tardme the other day – while I’m not expecting them to sell in any big hurry, it got me thinking about what I could purchase from Japan to “fill the void” as alternative rims for either of my Skylines. So off to Yahoo Auctions Japan I went, with the criteria being that the replacement wheels had to be 15″, minimum width 6J, available as a full set of 4 for under 50,000 yen, and NOT any of the styles mentioned above.

In other words, Different!

Now I’ve seen everything. Brand new old stock Skyline RS cufflinks and matching tie clip for the discerning enthusiast. Perfect for your next formal outing, and they even come in a fancy velvet-lined box to impress your girlfriend.

Mont Blanc, eat your heart out.

Or at least she will be, until you tell her you dropped 15,000 yen (NZ$230) on these puppies; for the price one would expect just a bit more lushness than that. hell, they’re not even 9k gold or anything, and those are probably fake diamond studs on the clip.

A pity Starions never really held their value here in NZ – which makes importing one not really that viable unless it was for a collection of some sort, but it’d be nice to own something this tidy/original.

This here’s a 1983 GSR-III model (with intercooler, so the 8-valve G63B gets a power bump to 175PS), tan cloth interior and smooth gunmetal paint. Starting bid is currently 200,000 yen (NZ$3100) which makes it something of a bargain, although it’s hard to tell whether start=reserve. No word on whether it comes with the factory optional blue smoke, but with only 59800km on the clock one would hope not!

now if only the interior was maroon, it’d be the perfect GSR-III…

You will look forward to see the records, I think the car has been well established treatment of it.

Linky to auction is here for the curious, and the seller has also provided an additional image gallery.
