Test fitted some 15×7.0J +3 offset Watanabes on squid this morning. Like a glove/bauce/virgin etc.

This is a thing which is good.

They look so good I suppose I should just buy the damn things, trash the Hankooks and roll some sweet Toyo rubber. Doubt anyone would pay me what I want for the deep-dish Ewings, so into permastorage they shall go.

now that just leaves me with the conundrum of what to do with the Linea Sports I bought just the other week…

Figured seeing as I had the Sunny Coupe here now that I’d throw the ‘champs on it for shits and giggles to see just how bad the clearance issues would be.

Not so shabby from the side but you can see there's a tyre issue.

Here you can see that the front has some clearance issues.

It’s actually not all that bad as far as the rear goes, even with those large tyres on it, it would only take a little lip of the guard for them to clear perfectly, so it’s safe to say that a 7.5″ -13 is a good fit for the rear of a KPB310, you could fit wider so long as the width went inwards and the outer dimensions remained.   You could easily fit a 7.5 or greater on the front too, but would need a far more positive offset or some camber adjustable tophats to cater for that and crank some serious tyre destroying camber.

The obvious is that it would also need epic amounts of slam to go with other wheels.

This time I even created a pro little title card for the beginning of the video, wooo.

annoyingly the sound is still distorted in places, the only way to fix this is to record with something that isn’t an ipod.

I love the angry idle, it gets deliciously lumpy around 30 seconds in. Basically DR30s are awesome, FJ20s are awesome, lumpy cams are awesome, putting a big turbo on will be awesome… etc

in other news, these should clean up well.

So, my brother got so sick of the car that he was willing to swap the 1993 ED Fairmont I had for it.   The Sunny has recently failed it’s WoF check on what for the most part, seemed like stupid shit. In particular some “rust” .. now, SOME rust, was justified, the problem was that where my brother thought the rust was and where it actually was, were two different places. He had thought the guy meant this barely noticeable crap atop the strut towers. No. It was this, on the inner guards (near where the bumper mounts) and the external side of the chassis rails.  Definitely needs fixed but actually isn’t toooo bad.

RHS Inner Guard

After hacking at it with a screwdriver you can see it’s only the outer most layer,  so I’ll cut it out and wire brush it up, lay some rust inhibitor on it and weld in some replacement steel, undercoat, blah blah, the whole deal.  The other side is similar.

LHS Inner Guard

Not quite as bad but in two slightly separate areas.  The same deal will need to be done here.  Once this is legal again I will be spending a LOT less on petrol (compared to the 260C & Fairmont) which will leave more money to be spent on the Skyline projects.  Then, once they’re done (hahahaaaaaah… I know, right?) I would love to turn this little bastard into something similar to…  (more…)

Doubling that stock figure would be nice but I'm not too bothered.
