Delays and Happiness

You may have noticed on a previous entry, I’ve been trying to sell my S12 Silvia for a while to fund the restoration of metal on the C110.

Well the past few weeks have involved me sorting out the finer details on trying to swap these vehicles, keys for keys;

There’s been a delay in getting the Terrano legal so the owner can drive down from Christchurch to Dunedin and myself up from Invercargill to Dunedin, to make the swap.  Fingers crossed it’s just a matter of time but it is getting a little tedious now, only because I’m chomping at the bit to get the C110 done and I can’t without a cash injection from the sale of a car…  Soon, soon.

On a happier note,  the first C110 front spoiler I imported via Ewan has found a new owner and desite losing some money on it, I’m happy to see the spoiler going to a pretty special North Island C110.  I’ll try get some photo’s to share with you of the car once the spoiler has found it’s new home.  So keep your eyes peeled.

With the C110 having drawn to a close and the oil crisis putting an end to the more performance oriented Skyline’s, where was the range to go?  Well it would just continue it’s trend as it had done in previous years and in 1977 the 5th Generation, C210 was released.

Although the lineup did not include a GT-R, it still used the same formula as the previous generation, with sedan’s, coupe’s & wagons with a variety of engines all as part of the mix.  The approach to the 80′s was evident in the styling of the 5th Gen cars, the curvy lines of the 70′s had been replaced by angular, sharpened edges, the unmistakable Skyline look was still there though with the square cut over the rear arch and in domestic models, the signature round rear lamps.

I love seeing shots inside workshops/sheds, especially those that have their focus on older cars.  There’s usually some pretty special stuff hanging about.  I’ve been inside a certain shed in Dunedin that houses some pretty magical things generally of a Datsun/Nissan nature. FJ24′s, L-series “RACE USE ONLY” labelled intake manifolds, all manner of impressive bits and pieces.  When I got these photos via email from Ewan (www.hayatonka.com) I was suitably impressed and thought I would share them with you all.

How cool is that?  Working on the moderns but with classics taking every possible other section of space…  Too cool.  So what else is in the workshop?

British V8 – or not?

Alex shared this website with me a few weeks back, not really his thing he didn’t feel compelled to make a blog entry about it, I however thought it would be ideal to do so.  Despite the title, it’s essentially a site dedicated to conversion in British cars, be they 4, 6 or 8 or otherwise (there’s bound to be a rotary conversion on there somewhere, surely)  This first one I’ll show you is the one that caught my attention up front, especially being that when you think conversion into an MG or some such, you tend to think Rover V8.  Not this car though, this is a whole different tack that likely offends a lot of the MG faithful.
