1970′s Toyota Corona

September 17, 2009

For Sale in the UK.  Man I love these cars, even the sedan has a cool look to it.  Not particularly common in the UK and the same level of rarity here in NZ, they’re magic IMO.  I remember finding out about a 6cylinder Coupe variant.  The ideal competitor to the C110 Hardtop.  Someone find/get one.  In the mean-time.  Scope this one out;

Holy Weird Nissan, Batman!

September 16, 2009

Recently posted on the trademe thread on the oldschool forums was this weird entity.  The picture initially provided I assumed it was a Toyota Carina so clicked on it with relative interest, only to be greeted by the weirdest version of a Nissan Pulsar I’ve ever laid my eyes on!

Carina from a distance?

Listed on trademe with the titling of “Backpacker” I assume to appeal to those backpacker types due to it’s clean and cheapness ($1200.ooNZD)  A search of the plate on carjam.co.nz reveals it as being a “Nissan Pulsar Liberty” HN12 chassis and E15 motivated.   Click “more” for further pictures.  It’s very 80′s. Put a CA in it.

September 15, 2009

It seems with the expense of other options being quite high, a cheaper and beforehand overlooked option (generally because the FJ, SR, Rotary or equivalent’s potential power) is the CA18DE(T) . If you’re looking for bang for buck though, the CA is a fantastic option and has been used more and more in recent times. Many times that I’ve come across conversions recently, it’s been the candidate chosen for small Fords, with the lack lustre Pinto 2.0 SOHC conversion being avoided in favour of the Nissan 1.8 DOHC option.

It’s about time really. To prove how good an idea it is, I provide you with these few but fine examples;

Those regular readers will be well aware of my recent purchase of a classic Kei car, the 2cylinder Daihatsu Max (360, Cuore, Fellow) in two door form.  Well I’m not the only C110 owner to have recently delved into the classic Kei realm.  Today’s entry will tell tale of Tony (fellow C110 hardtop owner) and his new toy.  That the size of a toy.

And to tell the tale of the discovery and ownership is the owner himself.  So get your read on! and enjoy the rest of the photographs and video along the way. ;) (more…)

Gifts from Japan

September 11, 2009

A few days ago, I got a txt from my brother to tell me there was a courier delivery card at his place for an item that had failed to be delivered.  My curiosity peaked.  I wasn’t expecting anything, what the hell could it be!?

Later that day I got an email from Ewan (www.hayatonka.com, the link on the top left column) to tell me he’d sent the last little die-cast I had bought a while ago, as well as a few other little goodies that I might enjoy, as a gift for the extra traffic his website has received from mine and from the people I’ve directed towards him.   I was of course, happy to help and expected not to receive such things in return so I was intrigued as to what they might actually be!

The next day (being I have been ill the last few) I scurried down to the CourierPost depot with the tracking number my brother had txt me and claimed my parcel from Japan, scurried back home and ripped it open to find many fine things, starting with the little die-cast I had almost forgotten about;

So official right now

So genuine right now.
