Car Spotting

as some of you may know, I have a fairly original SA22C RX-7 series 3 turbo tucked away which needs a bit of finishing before it can be road-registered. Now that I’m done restoring my TX3 it seems like the next logical project to move on to, and I spotted this freshly imported S3 turbo on a dealer’s yard in Invercargill during my breakfast trawl of Trademe this morning and wonder if I’d have any chance of selling mine for that much (once it’s on the road, of course).

anyway, I don’t like the paintjob (definitely doesn’t look like the factory Sparkling Black though I could be mistaken), and I certainly don’t like the wheels, but $20k is the road-legal asking price. Which bugs me a little. the fact that this guy can’t seem to shift his S3 turbo for half that tells me I’m being overly optimistic, and perhaps that’s what the dealer in Invercargill is about to find out.

Recession and all that, hem hem hemmmm.

$19,999. CHEAP.

kyteler, it’s in your neck of the woods – mayhaps you could go checks it out for me sometime? Who knows, they might even let you have a test drive!

Moar photos after the jump – but you could always click through to the auction instead and save yourself from my snarky comments ;)

The asking price? A cool 31.5 million yen… at the current exchange rate that amounts to a staggering 533,403 New Zealand peso. Forget buying a Murcie with your Big Wednesday winnings, just get this instead.

That is all :o

A Sample from OJC

May 7, 2009

Having a wander around the OJC forums (http://www.oldjapanesecar.com/) I came across a particular car that grabbed me by the ocular devices and thought that if it interested me so, it was likely to do similar to those that read this.  The car in question is an Isuzu.  No, not a Piazza, not a Bellett or a 117 Coupe, but a Florian!  I’d heard mention and seen in brochures this magical car but until now had never seen pictures taken by a recent owner.  Check out it’s ass!  It’s quite the looker from that perspective;

The front almost seems to not quite match the class of the rear, but it does grow on you.  The rear appears to be quite refined, whilst the front is almost brutish (more…)

Japanese Car Meet

May 4, 2009

In my latest email from Ewan (the man behind Hayatonka.com) I received a stack of photos that he thought I might enjoy.   Obviously I did, as such I thought I would share them all with you (with permission of course).  So, here they are!  Further inspiration for me to get my C110 finished as well as just general enjoyment.  I wish my brother still had an MA61, that was a comfortable 80′s cruiser that would happily break traction when-ever you felt fit.  Ewan is also someone who appreciates the Celica Supra XX, being the proud owner of a supercharged 1UZ powered MA61.  I think I might put in a request for a stack of photos of that so I can share it with you all.  In the meantime though, enjoy these shots;

Quite the contrast to be seen between the slammed on wires boat-tail Riviera and the bog stock Celica, such is the wonder of Japan.  If you’re not familiar with their MoonEyes events, I would suggest taking a wander around the internet to check it out.  Always something awesome to be seen… (more…)

C110 in Use

April 30, 2009

No, not mine.  Sadly.

However, recent postings by brocky41 of both datsun.co.nz and oldschool.co.nz fame, have brought forth video of a certain KHGC110 that races in the North Island.  I’d seen the car on trademe initially, a few years back, just as a road car.  Subsequently I saw a few pictures of it via Snoozin who helps out at the Manfeild track, marshalling and such, given him the perfect place to take photographs.  However, as nice (though somewhat plain) as it looked in photographs, seeing and hearing it in motion via brocky41‘s video postings, is a different sensation entirely.  So I thought that seeing as I’m on a bit of a C110 mission with my own at the moment, I’d use it as further inspiration as well as share it with you.  So enjoy the few video’s and pictures that I do have and if you live in the NI, go see it race and commend the chap on his choice of car.
