A Prince of a Deal

April 28, 2009

Those that check here frequently will notice the post before this one (by Orion) that shows an S21 Prince Skyline Super, on trademe.co.nz. It’s in worse, though more complete condition than mine. The interesting part however is that it’s the very same one that I was made aware of by Ed (RatDat) and subsequently made mention of in this entry here. I got the number of where it was but never got around to making contact. Now that it’s come up and the chap is after $12000NZD, I’m quite glad I didn’t get around to ringing the guy. A bit ridiculous if you ask me, especially if you take into consideration that there was a Prince Skyway (the wagon version) recently for sale on trademe, for less and in better condition. Ah well, it takes all types.

HOWEVER! If you’re interested in a Prince Skyline. Then that’s not the one you want. You want THIS one!

For Sale: Prince Skyline Super S21D-4

For Sale: Prince Skyline Super S21D-4

Not only is it in better condition. The registration is on hold and it was last in use in 2004 and!  AND!  It’s a quarter of the price @ only $3000! So it’s bound to be in far better condition just for the fact of being used and not left sitting somewhere.  I had tried to get the money together myself but with everything finally coming together for the C110, it’s just not on the cards financially.  My loss is your gain though! Having not stumbled through the projects on retro-rides.org for a while I decided to do so today, in aid of finding something worth of biffing up on here for everyone to admire in all it’s greatness.  As is usually the case with RR, to find such an example did not take long at all.  There’s was in fact something on the very first page that caught my eye.  A collection of letters inside some brackets on a NightmaresRacing thread that spelt out “ITS ALIVE 25/4/09″…    …well, anyone who frequents RR will know that anytime Nightmares does something, it’s done to an amazing quality and in a short space of time.  I’ll let you wander around the thread itself but here’s a sneak preview of what is the product of a seriously amazing craftsman.

More pictures and videos can be seen on the “Reader’s Ride” thread, here; (more…)

So, as was expected, my second package from Japan arrived (actually it arrived yesterday but let’s not be picky, I posted this entry a day late) in the same 3-day time frame that the first one took.  Though this time I was at home to receive it, at 11:20am.  Even the Courier was surprised it had arrived in 3 days and said himself that it was faster than internal New Zealand freight, I agreed.  So… what came this time around?  WELL!  Let’s see!

It came in a long white box, like so…

Oooh, what could it be? Its faily long or is that wide?

Oooh, what could it be? It's fairly long or is that wide?

Cars For Sale

April 22, 2009

Initially when I put my S12 up for sale, I pondered putting it on here.  I didn’t really see too much point and so decided against it.  More likely than not, most that read this are far from my tiny hometown of Invercargill, NZ and being it’s at the bottom of the South Island, not that many people are likely or even vaguely keen to want to drive the distance to get such a car unless it was mint.  Which mine is not.  It’s tidy enough and it does it’s job well as a reliable daily driver but it’s certainly not mint.

Then recently when Alistair decided he would be putting his Isuzu Bellett up for sale (a previous feature car on RC, as seen here) I offered for him to put it up here on RC as an entry.  Then the thought occured to me that perhaps I should dedicate a section of the website as a classifieds type area for as the title of this entry says “Cars For Sale”, it seems the done thing on most magazines, to have a dedicated section of cars available to buy.  SO … why not?  It wouldn’t exactly be a hard thing to manage.  However, I wouldn’t want to engage in something if there was little purpose.  So what I will do in this entry, is ask you the reader whether you think it would be a good idea or not.

Just make a comment on this blog entry, letting me know what you think and I’ll weigh it up based on the responses.  Alternatively you can use the RC forum or the RC thread on the oldschool.co.nz forum to let your opinion be known.

…and as to make this entry not an entire wasted breath.  If you’re interested in an S12 or a Bellett, then follow these links… (more…)

Old in New

April 21, 2009

I was going to provide a video link for today’s entry, showing something cool from YouTube that I hadn’t found yet.  I then discovered that Broccoli from oldschool.co.nz had already discovered something that I thought was sweetly epic so I figured I’ll just roll with that.

I have seen before, on auction an R32 Skyline Coupe with an L28 on triples, it’s not a common occurrence for people to swap an RB for an L and is infact far more common for the opposite to happen.  I do think however, that more people should swap in L6′s.  Like this chap has…

Would be so much sweeter to see it actually powering the car but still… it’s pretty damned cool to see.
