…when seeing this makes you happy;

The fender hides the truth.

It’s a 36 year old Nissan.  It could have been a LOT worse!

    That’d make me happy too. That’s got to be one of my least favourite areas to fabricate. Really time consuming for such a small part, especially as you can’t even see it when the cars done.

    You can imagine my joy then, I couldn’t fabricate anything to save my life! :D The bottom of the left fender needs some reconstructive work too but all in all, I was most definitely relieved. Once I had finally got the damn things off of course. 1 stubborn screw, 2 snapped 10mm bolts, 1 random imperial bolt in there for typical previous owner measure and them being tarred? into place, took some wiggling etc. The front valance is in pretty good nick also, just needs to be taken back and sprayed. Stoked.

    Good news. Body work just gets in the way. Spray a heap of primer down the sills etc so you don’t have to worry about them rusting through later on.
    Are you keeping it factory blue?

  • kyteler says:

    Nah, no more blue. The previous owner resprayed it a far brighter metallic blue than factory anyway so I’m not losing any heritage by changing. Not going to release colour and external aesthetic to the masses until it’s done.

    Tofu-shop panda is my bet on eventual colour choice :)

    When I got my DR30 panelled in the boot the beater sprayed a shitload of fisholene and rustkill on the patches that he’d made; that shit ain’t ever going rusty again! (or so I hope)

    Ahahahah, can you imagine a C110 as a disgusting InitialD clone car. I think I would die a little inside.

  • Ed says:

    This is what you need for rust prevention. It’s great stuff…

    Far out, that seems pretty impressive and well-priced. I wonder if there’s an NZ stockist. Cheers for the heads-up Ed!
