Japanese Car Meet

May 4, 2009

In my latest email from Ewan (the man behind Hayatonka.com) I received a stack of photos that he thought I might enjoy.   Obviously I did, as such I thought I would share them all with you (with permission of course).  So, here they are!  Further inspiration for me to get my C110 finished as well as just general enjoyment.  I wish my brother still had an MA61, that was a comfortable 80′s cruiser that would happily break traction when-ever you felt fit.  Ewan is also someone who appreciates the Celica Supra XX, being the proud owner of a supercharged 1UZ powered MA61.  I think I might put in a request for a stack of photos of that so I can share it with you all.  In the meantime though, enjoy these shots;

Quite the contrast to be seen between the slammed on wires boat-tail Riviera and the bog stock Celica, such is the wonder of Japan.  If you’re not familiar with their MoonEyes events, I would suggest taking a wander around the internet to check it out.  Always something awesome to be seen… (more…)

OK, so not all these pictures are of a retro nature and on top of that, they’re not a massive resolution but what they do show is another viewpoint taken by the non-professionally mannered photographers, a different angle on some of the cars we’ve already seen at this show via other websites such as noriyaro.com and speedhunters.com.  The few I’ve sampled here are essentially the retro shown.  You can see the rest by clicking the album link at the base of this entry.

How cool is that little Mini?  The answer…  Very.  Fender Mirrors, SSR’s, Hilarious Roofrack to carry picnic type table.   I dig it.

Next up, this little SE70 Corolla that everyone seems to love; (more…)

DO IT!  Don’t miss out.

A drag racing event held at Ruapuna in Christchurch.  Sadly I could not be there, CHCH is over 500km from me.  What I did manage to do however, was get some photos from a nice chap  (Graham a.k.a EFI_LC) who is on oldschool.co.nz, who did attend the event.  Here’s a brief selection of his photo’s here;

Thanks go out big-time to Graham for taking and sharing his pictures of the event and then allowing me to share them all with you.  Cheers Graham, much appreciated.

Drift South: Sneak Peak

March 30, 2009

I took a few photos of the Drift South event at Teretonga this weekend just been.  I didn’t stay too long on the main day, it was hot and I am a wuss, though in reality I had been feeling ill since the Friday and an unexpected long night/morning through into Saturday was not helping matters.  Having next to no sleep, most my pictures were from the lazy setup/drift school Saturday takings place as opposed to the actual race day on the Sunday.  Here’s a minor sneak peak of one photo from the Sunday.

I am well aware there are no Retro or Classic vehicles in this, but if you read the “About” page, you’ll see I’m a car enthusiast of many generations.  So shush.  There shall be a retro posting later in the day.  Word to your mother.
